Hosted by Debbie Dahmer

https://www.facebook.com/MiamiCoalition/
TOPIC: Polk County Fl. shelter not allowing the adoptions of Pit bulls. UPDATE: MCABSL and how you can help out to REPEAL BSL in Miami. The ordinance was enacted in 1989
The Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation (MCABSL) is a non-profit organization in the State of Florida. Its mission is to eradicate Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) implementing education and awareness. BSL is a form of canine genocide, discriminating a specific breed of dog based solely on physical characteristics and myths. It is fueled by ignorance and fear.
MCABSL’s main goal is to lift the Miami Pit Bull Ban that is responsible for the thousands of innocent dogs killed by this hideous ordinance. The ordinance was enacted in 1989 as a result of an alleged Pit Bull attacking a small girl. The knee jerk reaction taken by the Miami Dade County Commission at that time was to Ban Pit Bulls in the county. This led to a slaughtering of all American Staffordshire Terriers, American Staffordshire Bull Terriers, the American Pit Bull Terriers and their mixes.
These sentient beings are voiceless on their own but their undying plea is being heard worldwide by the likes of MCABSL!

In April 2011 a dog named Desmond, a beautiful boxer/pit bull mix, was adopted from a shelter in New Haven, CT
March 11, 2012. Desmond’s body is found in a trash bag in the woods. He is emaciated. He is bruised. He is dead. On March 15, 2012, a necropsy reveals that Desmond’s stomach was empty except for fragments of plastic, gauze and fabric. He had broken teeth and hemorrhages on his stomach, ribs, and head. This group, led by a former volunteer shelter worker, Micah, who had been Desmond’s caretaker, formed what was then known as “Justice For Desmond”.
Desmond’s body was found having been brutally murdered by his adoptor and was arrested and confessed to the killing in May 2012.
Desmond's Army seek to raise public awareness regarding laws as they relate to animals and the statistical connection between animal abuse and domestic violence
“Desmond's Law” – Public Act 16-30 enacted into law on October 1, 2016.

Lions, Tigers, Bears, Wolves and other captive wildlife are rescued from illegal or abusive situations and then rehabilitated so they can then be released into large acreage natural habitats where they live, roam and play with others of their kind for the rest of their lives.
The vast majority of animals we rescue have never been able to walk on grass before... or run... or even sleep on a natural substrate.
Once they have been rescued and rehabilitated, they get to live and roam freely.
Saving one animal may not change the world...But surely, for that one animal...The world will change forever!

TOPIC: Anti-Tethering Law in Gadsden, Alabama Follow-Up
Gadsden, ALABAMA: Jan. 28, 2020 - NO TETHERING CITY ORDINANCE PASSED!! by Carol Huckaby: Its a great day for the dogs here, thanks to so many folks that spoke out and for the wonderful council folks that heard their voices. Gadsden, Alabama will be a no tethering community, passed by Gadsden City Council council today, Jan. 28, 2020.
There will be a 60 day grace period in order to get the word out. This is a victory for countless suffering, chained dogs in our community.
Countless people leave dogs chained 24/7, some without food & water, some get tangled & die, many perish in the ice & snow, and blistering heat of summer. Until the laws are changed, we are forced to look away, as it is legal in most areas! The worst form of LEGAL DOG ABUSE currently known! A lot of this could be solved with spaying / neutering /education / organizations to build fences. We need your help, your voice, your caring heart & helping hands! Together we can make a difference!
Studies show that dogs are made aggressive & territorial by chaining them, making them far more likely to attack if they break loose.
