Topic will be: Fl "Ponce's Law"-new amendments & 2021 Legislation HB 731 Animal Cruelty
A puppy named Ponce was the inspiration for the law. Ponce, a 9-month-old Labrador retriever, was found dead in his owner's back yard in Volusia County.
When the officers found the small body huddled in the dark, lying next to a bloodied fence, Ponce’s injuries were “consistent with being hit by a car. He had a punctured lung, fractured and broken jaw, fractured rib and internal bleeding.”
Following approval by the Florida Legislature, Gov. Rick Scott signed Ponce's Law in March 2018 http://laws.flrules.org/2018/87

Wild For Change is a platform promoting change for animal welfare and nature through education, legislation, and public awareness.
96 elephants are killed per day, three rhinos are killed per day, and the giraffe population has declined by 80%.  Not one ounce of elephant ivory, rhino horn, or giraffe brain or bone do anything to support the advancement of health for the human species.  They are being tortured entirely due to greed.  They are literally running for their lives every day from trophy hunters and poachers.  Trophy hunting is legal in countries such as Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.  The more we know and understand what is happening to them, the more we can help protect these precious animals.

TOPIC: SB 216 -Reporting Animal Cruelty https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2021/216/?Tab=BillHistory
Reporting Animal Cruelty; Citing this act as "Allie’s Law"; specifying that the failure of a veterinarian to report suspected animal cruelty is grounds for disciplinary action; requiring veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other animal treatment provider employees to report cases of suspected animal cruelty to certain officials; authorizing veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other animal treatment provider employees to report suspected cases of animal cruelty at certain commercial food-producing animal operations under certain circumstances, etc.
Allie, a 4 year-old Boston Terrier, suffered at the hands of her human caretakers. They left scars on her face, ears and legs. The horrific circumstances that she suffered through had been recognized as a situation of abuse by a veterinarian in the past, yet no authority was notified. Until she was rescued from her abusers no one spoke for her.Violence against animals does not stop with the animal’s mistreatment. Research has found that there is a correlation between animal abuse and abuse among humans, including child and domestic violence.

TOPIC: Lobbying "Dylan's Dog Chaining Law" In Florida - Statewide
In 2012, a 17-month-old Jacksonville boy, Dylan Andres, was attacked & killed by his neighbor's chained dog. Following the attack, League of Humane Voters legislative rep Renee Rivard with the Andres family's help passed a dog chaining law for Duval County. We now have 19 Florida counties that have attended tethering ordinances. Together we are working to get this introduced at state level. We are calling the law "Dylan's Dog Chaining Law" to honor Dylan Andres.
