Ponce's Law that passed and took effect 10/1/18 F.S. 828.12Awarded as one of the "Top Ten Animal Defenders in America" 2019 by the ALDF.The county of Volusia wrote a Proclamation on Debbie and named a day after her.The town of Ponce Inlet presented Debbie with a Certificate of Appreciation for Ponce's Law.Animal abuse database PASSED for Volusia County and it even got an award from the Florida Association of Counties.Governor Rick Scott came to Ponce Inlet to do a ceremonial bill signing of her bill for Ponce's Law.On the Animal Control Advisory Board for Volusia County.Debbie is on these committees:  Companion Animal Committee, Criminal Law Committee and Legislative Committee for the Animal Section of the Florida Bar.

Voice for Animals is a registered, non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of animals in a wide range of circumstances.. We believe that we must lend our voices to speak out for animals who are abused and exploited. Animals, whether domesticated or wild, need our advocacy since they have virtually no protection under human law. 
The extension of basic rights is a recognition of the independent value and the natural sanctity of the individual; it means not having to live with the fear of being harmed at the whim of, or for the benefit of others. Animals, like us, are sentient, that is, they feel pain, fear, frustration and loneliness and they too seek pleasure and a sense of well-being. Because animals cannot speak for themselves we must speak for them as allies and fight for justice.
We believe that we must lend our voices to speak out for animals that are abused and exploited.

A new bill has been introduced in Congress, the Animal Cruelty Enforcement (ACE) Act, to create an animal cruelty crimes section at the Department of Justice. A dedicated Animal Cruelty Crimes section at DOJ would allow for robust and effective enforcement of federal animal welfare laws, including the animal fighting law, Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act, and Horse Protection Act, by designating personnel focused on these issues. DOJ already has dedicated sections on other important societal concerns, such as environmental protection, wildlife, and organized crime.
