MISSION:
To promote the humane treatment and responsible care of animals, as well as to save and better the lives of animals by advocating for better animal protection and anti-cruelty laws with lawmakers and government bodies statewide. We must speak for those that cannot speak for themselves while we stand together to protect the animals!!
The only way we can protect the animals is by changing the laws. Animals are considered property so when someone kills or abuses them they get off easy. Also in Court cases, they have no rights because according to the Court system they have the same rights as a tree. Let's fight to get these laws changed now.

Responsibilities include enforcing animal cruelty laws, housing animals we seize from unfit living conditions, providing essential medical care, and educating the community on how to treat animals humanely.
Investigating cases of suspected animal cruelty and, because the officers have “police powers,” they also address any existing links between animal cruelty and child abuse, elder abuse, domestic violence, and human suffering of all kinds.

He wakes up in a park and is confused by his surroundings and why everyone is afraid of him. The young dog runs for shelter in an alley where he dreams of his home. The next morning, the Animal Resource Center finds him and takes him to the shelter. Tucker is excited about his new surroundings, a soft bed, and high hopes of being adopted. Tucker’s happiness fades as dog after dog is adopted and he is passed over because they think he is mean. One day, Tucker meets someone special. A woman named Lyla, who thinks he is just perfect the way he is. She adopts Tucker and takes him to her dog-friendly community to give him happiness, unconditional love, and a forever home.

Guest will be: Mary-Ann Holm -President & Campaign Coordinator at Lucy's Edmonton Advocates' Project (LEAP)
https://www.leapforlucy.com/
https://www.facebook.com/groups/leapforlucy
https://twitter.com/LEAPyeg
TOPIC: Update on Lucy the Elephant in Edmonton Zoo in Canada
Lucy the Elephant has been at the Edmonton Valley Zoo for 46 years and turns 48 this year. This is an ominous milestone as zoo elephants rarely survive to their mid forties. Lucy suffers from a number of zoo induced ailments which will shorten her life expectancy. She has no other elephant companions, which is considered cruel by elephant experts due to their highly complex social needs. The harsh Edmonton climate is detrimental to her health and painful for her ongoing arthritis and foot disease. Lucy lives in a tiny concrete cell and is only allowed outdoors for short controlled walks.
Success! The City is finally willing to accept the offer by Free the Wild and also LEAP's request to submit a list of recommended consultants. LEAP were pleased that one of their recommended vets was chosen. Release of report is still pending.
